In 1970, John and Gail Lascari opened their first restaurant named Mario's Italian Deli in La Habra CA (later re-named Lascaris). Motivated by their passion for Italian cuisine, they took a leap of faith to shape their own destiny. The restaurant's name honored John's father, Mariano Lascari, who immigrated through Ellis Island and met his Sicilian wife, Angelina Terrentola, in New York. In 1945, the family settled in Whittier, where John grew up. Today, the Lascari family proudly presents 19Seventy, a rebranded modern Italian cuisine restaurant that blends cherished family recipes with a contemporary twist, inviting patrons to savor a culinary journey honoring tradition while embracing the future.
